Somehow I managed to delete my last post...

Anyway...
a fresh start...

Alex and I are in the car listening to Car Talk. A woman calls in who has a '94 Volvo 940 that is making a ululating sort of noise. I tell Alex, this woman has the same kind of car as our old station wagon, remember? I am going to take some liberties with what the Car Talk guys said because I don't remember exactly.

Click: "It could be a loose fan belt..."
Clack: "Maybe it's a vibrating blickety widgety doohickey..."
Alex: "Maybe it's just OLD."

Wishes

If there ever were a live person behind the computer code at amazon.com, surely they would I think I was schizophrenic. My recommendations include: calphalon omelet pans, a magnetic farm learning set, Fiesta Songs!, Wills, Trusts, and Estates (7th ed.), a remote control snake, Lonely Planet France, a parachute, and Goodnight Moon.

Thank you, Al Gore, for the Internet

Alex wants two things for Christmas. A 'mote control Lightning McQueen (from the movie Cars). Somebody probably makes these. And a 'mote control snake. I tell him I have never seen a remote control snake, and he doesn't really see the issue here because he's asking SANTA for one, and Santa's elves make the toys. So surely they can make him a remote control snake.

Against my better judgment, I google "remote control snake". I was kind of worried that the results were not going to be *children's* toys. But, lo and behold, there it is. How many hours, pre-Internet, do you think I would've spent looking for such an item?
